VK is the only European social networking service in the top-10 list of popular international social networks.

The list was recently published on the Adobe company website. Russian social network VKontakte (VK) has been ranked eighth with 238,620,300 accounts in January 2014. 21 social networks were ranked according to the total number of users. VK beats such popular global services as Instagram and Pinterest.

The first positions belong to almost 10-years-old Facebook with 1.4 billion users and YouTube (1 billion). Two Chinese social networks Qzone and Weibo got the third and the fourth places. Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn go right after them. And next we have the VK on the eighth place.

The oldest network in the list is Friendster founded in 2002 (11 place, 115 million users), the youngest is Vine that got started by Twitter in 2013 only (15 place, 40 million users)

Analyzing the results of 2013 for VK its founder Pavel Durov noticed that during the year the number of people who use only VK and have no active accounts in other social networks in the Former Soviet Union Countries grew from 11.3 to 14.5 million. The Mobile App for iPad, iPhone and Android gadgets became the most popular App in Russia and Former Soviet Countries. While VK application for Windows Phone is mentioned as the most popular social app in the world.
